Global MBA Testimonials
The process of creating value through work-integrated learning is extraordinary. It shifts the primary learning experience from the confines of academic institutions to the actual workplaces of our students. This transformation leads to an unparalleled sense of purpose, as it transitions skills training from theoretical teaching to the invaluable experience gained on the job.
Additionally, work-integration redirects the traditional focus of study from analysis to practical implementation. It is the act of implementation that has the power to bring about real change in the world. This new approach enables students to realize their potential in effecting positive changes within their work environments.
We invite you to explore the remarkable feedback from some of our students who have been willing to openly share their experiences of creating genuine value in their workplaces.

DMAIC has allowed me to delve deeper into the art of problem solving and optimising existing processes at my workplace. The tendency has been to try and solve problems as they arise however, this only results solving surface problems rather than addressing the root cause of the problem. Instead of constantly fire-fighting the application of six sigma in my assignment has allowed me to take a holistic approach to designing and implementing transformation processes. |

Whilst I thoroughly enjoyed undertaking this assignment as it taught me a lot about my own personal management style and gave me pointers as to where I could personally improve and develop my skills, unfortunately I do not think that it is suitable for my current employer, this is primarily due to the fact that the organization has no vision or objectives. Personally, I will take these lessons to heart and hopefully will have a chance to implement these within my next organisation. |

I was fortunate that this assignment was due whilst I was busy in the middle of a larger project. Hence, writing this assignment became a part of the project that I was anyway working for, so it was very timely. |

Seems like we forgot Germany/UK, obviously I did not make enough of an impression, I shall try to do better next time. All jokes aside, I was truly honored to have met Prof Jannie and my future business partners. I had an amazing time, full of fun and laughter, we also learnt some stuff about Human Resource Management in between the jokes. Prof Jannie is a very inspirational leader and mentor. He has a very effective teaching style by which he is able to simplify a very complex topic and make it relative not just to our careers but also to our personal lives. I feel truly blessed to have met him and look forward with anticipation to returning home and implementing these life lessons and improving myself not just as a manager but also as a father. Thank you for everything. Leon |

The HRM residential was an eye-opener, the way Prof Jannie delivered the theory coupled with the videos helped me understand and remember things easily. Thank you Prof Jannie for taking us on an insightful, informative and very practical course. I have learnt lessons to guide me not only in my professional but to improve my personal life as well. From Leadership with possibility, driven by ROWE, realising the importance of the first followers and self-management (leadership starts with self-motivation). To the team: it was a pleasure meeting all of you. Thank you for being such an inspiring and dedicated team. Till we meet again in Germany!! |

For the better part of 15 years I’ve been in a management role. Working on this assignment, I noticed to my regret that we tend to neglect our greatest resources: the people that we work with or for. This course shifted my management priorities back to the importance of constant management development. The value I’m taking away is inclusivity, mentoring, empowerment and team building. With my management and future projects this is the change I want to see and implement the most. |
Development of Management Skills |

This assignment has highlighted for me the need to develop sound management skills. I have realised that for me to be effective as a manager, I have to be able to drive the team towards set goals and objectives as required by the company. I also realised that it is just not a matter of managing through instruction, but I get more output from my team if I learn to get their trust and I also empower them to reach heights that they are capable of, keeping sight of the overall strategic objectives that need to be achieved. |

I found the reading material to be insightful, easy reading and practical. I was encouraged to see that we are closely aligned to the recommended recruitment, selection and placement components which probably explains why we have been surveyed in the top three best companies to work for. It also explains why our annual culture survey results are generally good with no major areas of concern or high entropy levels. Should we address the identified shortcomings then I would anticipate that our staff turnover levels would decrease. |

I initially struggled with determining our supply chain as I had also associated supply chains and supply chain management with manufacturing. It was eye opening to discover that servicing industries also have supply chains that if managed as actively as manufacturing companies can generate significant savings and better service delivery. These benefits can then be cascaded to the customer via lower or stable pricing or enhanced benefits. |

HRM redefined. This residential made me realise that human resources management is not about a role and a department, but a very essential tool for me to develop my management skills and for myself and team to achieve our strategic objectives. I will be more effective after this. |

"The conductor of an orchestra does not make a sound" Thank you Dr. Jannie for enlightening us to focus on the talents of team members, and develop a possibility oriented mindset. People will not buy what we do but WHY we do what we do. |

Thank you Dr Jannie for the insightful residential, which has really equipped me in terms of highlighting the areas I need to work on if I'm to be effective as a team leader, as well as in influencing the human resource policies in the organisations I will work for. The session also helped me personally in how to structure communication in a way that will get buyin from the targeted customers. It also made me realise that to provide leadership one doesn't necessarily need to be occupying a formal position in the organisational hierarchy. |

I thoroughly enjoyed this residential and Dr. Jannie was an excellent facilitator. I enjoyed how he was able to take us on a journey whose lessons trascend beyond business and touch every facet of our lives. Jannie was humourous and his real life examples will remain with me for a long time. l am grateful for the DISC profile, Belbin roles and the Personal Mission Statement exercises. My letter to my great grandchildren has been filed and l intend to sic itur ad astra and carpé diem. My greatest take aways are that leadership is the art of possibility, how to keep my team motivated and that l should practice self care. |

What an amazing week! Dr Jannie demystified HRM in ways I thought were not possible. My work experience has always been that HR department is there to frustrate the employees. HR always seems to be the rule keepers, the guys who write your mis-deeds in the little black book. Now I understand, and appreciate, the role of HRM. Thank you Dr Jannie!!!! |

This assignment has helped me appreciate the BSC. It has also helped me appreciate that our company’s strategy setting, and monitoring process requires improvement. It was clear to me that we just “scratch the surface” and there is more depth that is required when we set and monitor performance objectives. I am going to introduce this approach in our next management meeting. |
Strategic Performance Management |

12.2019 |
For over 15 years I’ve been in a managerial position and dealt with staff appraisals and setting of targets. While writing this assignment two areas became fundamentally clear and this is where I real value was created: 1. A performance management system should always speak and contribute to the strategic objectives of the organization. 2. To concentrate on the process of improving and developing staff. A revelation was also that we shouldn’t award standard performance that’s already awarded through standard salaries. |

This assignment has been quite insightful, particularly due to the fact that we are approaching year end and the HR is requesting that all line managers complete OGSM (objectives, goals, strategies and measures) appraisals with their subordinates. Within the framework of my assignment I have managed to identify the gaps that are there in the existing system and recommend adequate action that will help the organisation as whole. I have learnt the importance of continuous development of my team members and how it directly relates to the achievement of my objectives. |
